Anizet Lopez-Flores is working on the City of Southport’s public information communications. Lopez-Flores assists in revamping the town’s website and maintaining operations of the two-way notification system TextMyGov, ensuring seamless communication of localized alerts and responses to residents’ issues or concerns.

During her time at Appalachian State University, she was an ACCESS scholar and Goodwin Meissner scholar and was inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha, the NationalPolitical Science Honor Society. Anizet’s dedication extended beyond academics; she captained the university debate team and achieved recognition as “National Champion in Spanish Language Interpretation,”using poetry to raise awareness about violence against women. Anizet contributed to the Student Government Association and Latin Hispanic Alliance, while also mentoring youth through the Western Youth Network.Since completing her undergraduate studies, Anizet has taken pride in applying her classroom knowledge to drive positive change, particularly within local government. Her experience with her hometown Parks and Recreation department deepened her commitment to public service and community advancement through the LFNC program.
