At Duke University, Madison chaired the Community Engagement for DukeÕs Chapter of theNAACP, served as Vice-Chair for the Service & Outreach Committee of theBlack WomenÕs Union, was a member of the National Italian Honor Society,and received the Romance Studies Department’s Faculty Book Award. Sheinterned with the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters Foundation,working within their Boards and Commissions Fellowship and aiding ineducating participants on local government fundamentals. Madison believesthat progress begins at the local level. A proponent of environmental justice,she hopes to become an environmental lawyer. To achieve this, she aims tounderstand policymaking beyond textbooks by engaging with the communityand participating in the decision-making process through LFNC, gaininginsights for her future endeavors.
