Jurisdiction: Town of Bermuda Run

University: UNC - Chapel Hill

Hometown: Charlotte, NC

Tiffany Jones serves as a Lead for North Carolina Fellow with the Town of Bermuda Run, where she supports community education, internal financial systems, and the Town’s capacity to pursue outside funding. During her fellowship, Tiffany will develop a reusable “Local Government 101” Citizens Academy that helps residents better understand municipal services, decision-making, budgeting, planning and zoning, public meetings, and the legal and practical limits of local government. She will also work with finance and administrative staff to document recurring financial processes, internal controls, reporting timelines, and institutional knowledge by creating standard operating procedures, process maps, calendars, checklists, and templates. In addition, Tiffany will build a systematic grants management process by researching funding opportunities, assisting with applications, developing a centralized grants database, and creating procedures for tracking deadlines, compliance requirements, and future opportunities. Through these projects, she is gaining hands-on experience in community engagement, municipal finance, grant research and writing, program development, process improvement, technical documentation, project management, and cross-departmental coordination.

Tiffany Jones was an Honors Carolina student and student leadership coordinator for UNC’s civic engagement initiative. Experiences in legal advocacy, voter education, and public service—including internships with Legal Aid and service as an Honor Court attorney—have fueled an interest in the intersections of law and community engagement.
