Shea Wargo serves as a Lead for North Carolina Fellow with the Town of Kill Devil Hills, where she supports internal policy modernization, responsible use of artificial intelligence, and community events. During her fellowship, Shea will assist Town administration with updating personnel, safety, and drug policies, researching more user-friendly handbook formats, coordinating with staff, and preparing revised policies for Board of Commissioners approval and employee implementation. She will also help develop the Town’s first artificial intelligence policy by researching practices in other municipalities, drafting recommendations, collaborating with key staff, presenting a final policy to the Board, and helping educate employees about appropriate AI use. In addition, Shea will support the Town’s Holiday Farmers Markets by organizing vendors, planning market layouts, coordinating logistics, and contributing ideas informed by her previous market experience. Through these projects, she is gaining hands-on experience in policy research and writing, policy implementation, local government administration, employee communication and training, community engagement, event planning, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Shea Wargo graduated from UNC Greensboro with degrees in Political Science and Anthropology. Originally from Texas but raised primarily in western North Carolina, Shea enjoys traveling, trying new foods, and spending time with two beloved cats.
