Prerna Dash serves as a Lead for North Carolina Fellow with the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer, where she supports the financial and operational sustainability of local governments, particularly in the areas of water infrastructure, fiscal distress, and rural healthcare. During her fellowship, Prerna will support State Revolving Fund and Viable Utility Reserve initiatives by reviewing financial information, researching strategies for the long-term viability of water and wastewater systems, participating in cross-agency working groups, and updating internal staff guides. She will also assist with debt transactions involving local governments on the Unit Assistance List or experiencing Financial Performance Indicators of Concern by analyzing fiscal conditions, contributing to corrective action planning, and supporting efforts to secure needed capital financing. In addition, Prerna will help review Rural Healthcare Stabilization Fund applications by examining legislation, feasibility studies, and financial documents to assess long-term viability and support access to healthcare in rural communities. Through these projects, she is gaining hands-on experience in local government finance, debt analysis, water and wastewater infrastructure, fiscal remediation, intergovernmental collaboration, policy research, data management, and rural health policy.

Prerna Dash recently graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with degrees in Public Policy and Management & Society. During college, Prerna was involved in student government initiatives, public health access, and foreign aid programs.
