While at UNC-Asheville, Ona served as the D1 volleyball team captain, earningScholar-Athlete of the Year and the George A. Christenberry Award for academic excellence. She presented research at the 2024 Pi Sigma AlphaNational Student Research Conference and published in “Dignity: AnUndergraduate Human Rights Journal.” Ona is excited to focus on a community closer to home after studying abroad in Spain and Japan. Ona has wanted to study political science and pursue a career in politics since8th grade. LFNC provides an opportunity to immerse herself in Murphy, NC, grow professionally, and stay connected to her Appalachian roots. She aims to improve lives in Western North Carolina through policy and research. Ona was the valedictorian at the UNC-Asheville for spring 2024.
