Emiyah Watkins works on increasing capacity within all departments in the City of Lowell. She has implemented mandatory DEI and Social Media Etiquette training sessions for all city employees, updated the City of Lowell’s personnel policy, increased participation in Lowell’s annual citizens academy, and so much more.

Emiyah Watkins is serving her fellowship with the City of Lowell. She graduated cum laude from Wingate University with a major in political science and a minor in legal studies. During her time at Wingate, Emiyah was a council chairwoman for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity Council and worked closely with the university’s multicultural center. Emiyah was awarded the Class of 2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Award for her contributions to leadership and service on campus.
