Leslie graduated summa cum laude from Wake Forest. During her time at Wake, Leslie was inducted into the Phi Betta Kappa, Pi Sigma Alpha, and Sigma Delta Pi honor societies. Leslie also served as Co-President for the Organization of Latin American students on campus and was a Research Assistant for a project involving Spanish linguistics in the Piedmont Triad. Her previous work experience in government includes an internship at the US Department of Education in their Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs. For the past four years, she has also worked with immigrant community members at an immigration law firm in Winston-Salem.
On her future and purpose: My purpose in life is to use my knowledge and skills to create positive and impactful change in communities everywhere. Throughout my life, I have seen how injustices faced by community members could be solved with a simple policy change. Therefore, I want to share my knowledge with others to create sound and inclusive policies that consider what is best for the people.
