As the Language Access and Community Coordinator for the Town of Apex, Kristy Nguyen is leading the implementation of the Town’s Language Access Plan to make resources and services more accessible to all residents. She collaborates with each department to identify and translate vital documents, ensuring key information is available to everyone, including Limited English Proficiency residents. She also coordinates interpretation services for town meetings and community events and works to ensure that all town programs, activities, and resources are accessible to all. These efforts break down language barriers and foster a more inclusive community where residents can actively engage with town programs, services, and local government.

Kristy has experience working with local nonprofits in Orange County and interning for the NC Department of Public Instruction on various educational initiatives. Kristy is excited to work with the Town of Apex on their Language Access Plan project. This role allows Kristy to apply their skills in policy analysis and data science to promote inclusivity and address language barriers in local government. Kristy is passionate about creating positive change through public service, aiming to implement innovative solutions that directly engage with community issues. Kristy’s career goal is to work in local government management, contributing to building stronger, more inclusive communities through policy analysis and data-driven solutions.
