Jose Matute served his fellowship with the Town of Pollocksville. He was tasked with building relationships and communicating with Pollocksville’s partners in North Carolina Emergency Management and FEMA as the Town worked to close our major FEMA projects. Matutue also assisted the Town with grant applications and improvements to technology in the newly renovated Town Hall, and supported the redesign of the town’s website.

Matute graduated cum laude from Ohio Wesleyan University with bachelor’s degrees in political science and pre-law. While at OWU, he served as the student body president and was the first Hispanic person elected to that position. He was also elected to serve on the Board of Trustees for a three-year term. He previously worked as an extern for the Town of Rockville, Maryland.
