Hazel Pasley serves as a Lead for North Carolina Fellow with the Lee County Consolidated Human Services Agency, where she supports employee orientation, organizational efficiency, and leadership development. During her fellowship, Hazel will create a comprehensive orientation program for new and current employees that includes informational materials, presentations, training events, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen staff members’ understanding of how departments work together across the consolidated agency. She will also research potential operational and organizational improvements by comparing Lee County’s structure with those of other counties, evaluating departmental placement and workflows, and presenting recommendations to improve efficiency and service delivery. In addition, Hazel will revise the CHSA Board handbook and create a resource library for agency leadership by updating bylaws, organizational information, policies, reporting templates, and reference materials. Through these projects, she is gaining hands-on experience in organizational research, process improvement, change management, employee training, event planning, governance, report writing, presentation development, and cross-departmental collaboration while helping preserve institutional knowledge and support future agency leaders.

Hazel Pasley grew up in Sparta, North Carolina, and graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in Mathematics and a specialization in Economics. Along the way, Hazel explored new places, studied languages, and worked in a variety of roles before beginning a journey in public service.
