Hannah Elkins is the LFNC Fellow for Hyde County. She graduated from UNC-CH with honors. During her Senior year, she studied with the UNC Honors College in London, UK, and interned for a Member of Parliament. She is excited to be a LFNC fellow because she has always aimed to give back to her community and make the world a better place. Working locally in North Carolina will provide Hannah with an opportunity to give back to the state that has given her so much while providing first-hand experiences regarding governmental operations.

On her future and purpose: Born in Wilmington, I have always been keenly aware of the environmental problems plaguing coastal habitats and the impacts they have on the local communities. Working as a LFNC Fellow in Hyde County will allow me the opportunity to work on important initiatives surrounding coastal habitats. I hope that I am able to translate what I learn in Hyde County to all of the state’s coastal regions, so that future generations have just as many miles of beaches to explore.
