Brianna Patterson serves as a Lead for North Carolina Fellow with the Town of Liberty, where she supports regional collaboration, funding research, and municipal planning and policy development. During her fellowship, Brianna will assist with discussions between the Town and Randolph County regarding the potential regionalization of water and sewer services, gaining insight into intergovernmental coordination, shared governance, infrastructure planning, and regional funding mechanisms. She will also conduct targeted research to identify grant opportunities aligned with the Town’s priorities and create a centralized funding pipeline that tracks eligibility requirements, deadlines, award amounts, and other essential information. In addition, Brianna will participate in regional and municipal committees addressing transportation planning, corridor development, watershed issues, public art, and legislative policy. She will develop systems to track action items, summarize complex discussions, and identify connections across initiatives. Through these projects, she is gaining hands-on experience in intergovernmental relations, regional planning, grant research, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, meeting management, and translating technical information into clear recommendations for local government leaders.

Brianna Patterson graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with degrees in English and Comparative Literature and Neuroscience and Human Rights, along with a minor in Arabic. Passionate about education access and language justice, Brianna served with organizations including TABLE NC and Refugee Community Partnership and recently returned from a Fulbright grant in Bahrain.
