Anna Doane serves as a Lead for North Carolina Fellow with the Land of Sky Regional Council, where she supports the organization’s use of artificial intelligence, technology implementation, and organizational communications. During her fellowship, Anna will help tailor the GovAI platform by incorporating key organizational documents, procedures, and policies and training staff to use the platform effectively. She will also draft an organizational AI policy, coordinate an internal AI support group, and develop an online collection of AI resources for local governments, helping establish safeguards for privacy, security, and responsible AI use. In addition, Anna will support website and platform updates, assist with the integration of project management software, and help develop a GIS-based data dashboard that communicates the Council’s work across departments and sectors. Through these projects, she is gaining hands-on experience in AI operations, policy development, software implementation, data visualization, team leadership, cross-departmental collaboration, and organizational communications while helping Land of Sky and its local government partners use emerging technology responsibly and effectively.

Anna Doane is a UNC Asheville alum and former professional soccer player. A lifelong athlete and environmental science graduate, Anna brings a passion for community, the outdoors, and service to the Lead for NC fellowship.
