Biography

Mylon Patton served his fellowship in Buncombe County. He played a pivotal role in fostering truth and reconciliation efforts between Buncombe County government, African Americans, and Native Americans. He provided crucial planning, coordination, and administrative support to the County-City Reparations Commission and was instrumental in planning initiatives for both the County-led Apprenticeship Program and Youth Commission. Patton also conducted a homelessness study and created the infrastructure for a county youth council.

Before LFNC

Patton is a graduate of the University of Chicago. He participated in initiatives like the UC Institute of Politics and The Illinois Farm Bureau. He served with the International Rescue Committee and the U.S. State Department to begin a legal aid clinic and assist in providing legal assistance to hundreds of Afghan refugees. Patton served as an education fellow for the People Matter initiative and a policy advisor for the Chicago Police Youth Council for Police Accountability. He previously served as a member of the Young Leader’s Network for the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and as a working group mayoral appointee for The City of Chicago Use of Force Working Group.
