Elizabeth Miller served her fellowship in Hyde County. She administered the County’s Urgent Repair Program, which provides urgent housing repairs to low-income households in the county. Additionally, she supported the Ocracoke community boards in making their board procedures more effective and professional. Finally, Miller worked on advancing equity in the health department by conducting research on equitable expansion of health department services.

Miller graduated from Davidson College with a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and a minor in anthropology. She was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honor society and participated in student radio during her time at Davidson. Miller also served as the Davidson Impact Fellow for the Arts and Science Council in Charlotte, North Carolina. After studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Barcelona, and Cape Town on a program focusing on urban social movements, Elizabeth became interested in urban and regional planning as a mechanism for pursuing social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
