Taylor Norton served her fellowship with the Mid-East Commission, covering Beaufort, Pitt, and Martin Counties. Norton focused on Chapter 160D updates, which cover land use law in North Carolina. Her worked served member communities, particularly those lacking a planning department and the budget to hire outside resources to write the updates. Norton’s efforts provided affordable updates so local governments could stay within statutory requirements.

Norton received her bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in ethics from North Carolina State University. While at NC State, she worked at the North Carolina General Assembly with Rep. Phil Shepard and volunteered with a non-profit organization that provided resources to homeless individuals in Raleigh.
