Biography

Magnolia Long served her fellowship in the Town of Rutherfordton. She conducted a housing needs assessment to help create affordable housing opportunities for the local workforce, increasing the number of affordable housing units in the Town by more than 60 units. She also spearheaded the creation of a Redevelopment Commission to focus on previously neglected neighborhoods. Long created a community Garden to address food insecurity outside of the Town; the garden grows and donates organic food to food pantries across the county.

Before LFNC

Long is a graduate of UNC-Greensboro. Her honors thesis studied the relationship between political efficacy and immunization coverage.
