Luis Valdivia-Diego serves as a Lead for North Carolina Fellow with Pitt County Economic Development, where he supports workforce analysis, business retention and communications, and industrial site development. During his fellowship, Luis will analyze the County’s 2026 Wage and Benefit Survey, develop a comprehensive Workforce Needs Assessment, identify trends related to hiring, benefits, training needs, and employee retention, and present findings that can inform workforce and existing-industry initiatives. He will also help develop and maintain the Existing Industry Website Portal, produce a monthly newsletter, and support media campaigns that highlight local companies, business resources, incentives, and workforce opportunities. In addition, Luis will assist with industrial property and site development by maintaining property inventories and marketing materials, conducting demographic and workforce research, responding to project inquiries, coordinating Manufacturing Week activities, and contributing data and content to the County’s annual economic development report. Through these projects, he is gaining hands-on experience in data analysis, workforce development, economic development research, strategic communications, business retention and expansion, property marketing, event coordination, performance measurement, and stakeholder engagement.

Luis Valdivia Diego graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with degrees in Public Policy and Management & Society. Passionate about economic mobility and the relationship between government resources and opportunity, Luis looks forward to learning more about how local and state institutions can better serve communities across North Carolina.
