Jurisdiction: Town of Mayodan

University: UNC - Chapel Hill

Hometown: Toms River, NJ

Caroline Strada serves as a Lead for North Carolina Fellow with the Town of Mayodan, where she supports land-use policy, community engagement, and long-term infrastructure planning. During her fellowship, Caroline will help rewrite the Town’s zoning ordinance as a modern Unified Development Ordinance by researching zoning requirements, drafting ordinance language, and identifying policy considerations for the Town Council in collaboration with the Planning Consultant and Town Manager. She will also develop Mayodan’s first community resident survey, oversee its distribution, analyze resident feedback, and present recommendations to the Town Council to help inform future budget decisions. In addition, Caroline will assist with creating a Comprehensive Infrastructure Master Plan and Capital Improvement Plan by assessing needs across the Town’s water, sewer, and street systems, mapping priority improvement areas, coordinating with staff and engineers, and developing recommendations for long-term capital investments. Through these projects, she is gaining hands-on experience in planning and policy research, data analysis, community engagement, infrastructure planning, cross-departmental coordination, policy writing, and presenting recommendations to elected officials.

Caroline Strada recently graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, where she double majored in Biology and Political Science. Caroline played club field hockey, served as president of Circle K, and enjoys running and exploring new places.
