Jurisdiction: Lumber River COG

University: University of Colorado - Boulder

Hometown: Charlotte, NC

Jackson Deville’s service plan with the Lumber River Council of Governments focuses on strengthening regional flood resilience, expanding digital inclusion, and supporting environmental planning. He will assist with implementing the North Carolina Flood Resiliency Blueprint in high-risk and lower-capacity communities by coordinating outreach, gathering data, documenting recurring flooding and infrastructure concerns, using decision-support tools, and helping communities identify and prioritize practical, fundable resilience projects. He will also support LRCOG’s five-county Digital Champion initiative by coordinating digital literacy classes and community events, tracking participation, supporting technology resources, engaging community partners, and assisting with grant closeout activities. Finally, Jackson will contribute to a water-quality and watershed planning project for the Town of White Lake by conducting research, gathering data, coordinating stakeholder engagement, supporting mapping and GIS activities, and helping develop planning recommendations and future funding opportunities. Through these projects, he will gain experience in local and regional planning, community engagement, flood resilience, digital inclusion, environmental and water-resources planning, data analysis, GIS, grant administration, stakeholder coordination, and project development.

Jackson Deville graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. Experiences in public policy research, legal internships, and democratic governance strengthened a passion for public service and inspired plans to pursue law and government-related legal work.
